Tips & Tricks
ADVANCED GOOGLE SEARCH – CHERYL WESTER
Open google.com
Type in what you want to find
A gazillion items come up - Yuck!
Go to the bottom of the first page
Select advanced search - Yeah!
In this area select the language you want and keep going down the list
When it comes to file type I use the drop down list and select .ppt
Now, I can choose a PowerPoint presentation to use for my topic.
Often it is my lesson plan as a teacher or perhaps a meeting for my Temecula Valley Computer User Group
Play with it and see how cool it is
MOVE YOUR TASKBAR
Do you know you can move the taskbar to the top, right, or left sides of your screen? Just do the following:
Right-click on the Taskbar
Make sure there isn’t a checkmark by Lock the Taskbar – if there is, click on Lock the Taskbar to remove the checkmark
Left-click on the Taskbar and drag (using your Solitaire skills) and drop it on the right-hand or left-hand side of the screen or even the top
Give it a try to see if you like your Taskbar someplace other than the bottom of your screen
WOULD YOU LIKE MORE THAN ONE CLOCK?
Click on the Time / Date in the lower right-hand corner of your Taskbar
Left click on Change date and time settings
Click on Additional Clocks tab
Click the Show this Clock checkbox
Click on the down arrow to the right of Select time zone to drop-down the menu
Scroll down the list and click on your time zone
In the Enter the name field type a name for your clock
Press the Enter key
When you click on time / date at the end of your Taskbar you will now see two clocks
You can have up to three clocks
DO YOU USE THE JUMP LISTS FEATURE? – Microsoft.com
Just look for the right-pointing arrow next to programs on your Start menu or left-click a program on the taskbar. You can use Jump Lists to open files and programs in just a few clicks. Even better, you can drag items from Jump Lists into open folders or emails.
